With any of the three new JBL high-performance marine amplifiers from ProSpec Electronics, it’s easy to achieve premium audiophile-level sound without breaking the bank. Compact and ranging from 75-600 watts, they’re simple to incorporate into aftermarket and OEM stereo systems. The full-featured JBL Marine A-series amplifiers have speaker-level and low-level inputs. This makes it simple to incorporate the components into any stereo system. When the low-level option is used, input sensitivity can be adjusted from 200mVrms to 4Vrms. With high-level inputs, sensitivity is between 1Vrms and 22Vrms. Plus, they can switch the input phase between inverted and non-inverted so the units can be located virtually anywhere onboard without affecting the system tuning.
JBL engineered the Marine A-series amplifiers using balanced differential inputs to ensure low noise and distortion, even at high output levels. This makes them far less susceptible to line-induced radiated engine noise. Additionally, variable electronic crossovers and bass boost circuits provide precise tuning and serious performance.
On-board circuitry protects the JBL Marine A-series from shorts, high temperatures, overvoltage and undervoltage. An LED will glow if any of these conditions arise. Additionally, an integrated turn-on mode switches from DC to
REM to adapt to low- or high-level signals and protect the battery from current drain when the amplifier isn’t being used.
Compact sizes allow the Marine A-series amplifiers from ProSpec Electronics to be tucked into the tightest spaces. Yet with eye-catching grey and white low-profile chassis equal to high-end audio components, it’s easy to keep them exposed.
The JBL Marine A754 is a four-channel amplifier with 75 watts RMS x 4 at 4 ohms (100 watts RMS x 4 at 2 ohms) and 200 watts RMS x 2 at 4 ohms in bridged mode (4-ohm stable in bridged mode). It has preamp and speaker-level inputs and preamp outputs. It measures 12-5/8″ W x 2-1/16″ H x 7-1/8″ D.
With five channels, the JBL Marine A5055 amplifier from ProSpec features 50 watts RMS x 4 plus 320 watts RMS x 1 at 4 ohms, 75 watts RMS x 4 plus 500 watts RMS x 1 at 2 ohms and 100 watts RMS x 2 bridged at 4 ohms plus 500 watts RMS x 1 at 2 ohms. A low-pass filter on the subwoofer channel is 32-320 Hz, 12 dB/octave, the bass boost is 0-12 dB at 45 Hz, while the phase switch on subwoofer channel is 0, 180 degrees. With preamp and speaker-level inputs, it measures 14-3/16″ W x 2-1/16″ H x 7-1/8″ D.
The most powerful of the three models, the JBL Marine A600 mono subwoofer marine amplifier has 350 watts RMS x 1 at 4 ohms (600 watts RMS x 1 at 2 ohms) with maximum power at 1,200 watts. A variable low-pass filter is 32-320 Hz, 12 dB/octave while the variable bass boost is 0-12 dB at 45 Hz. It has preamp and speaker-level inputs and measures 8-11/16″ W x 2-1/16″ H x 7-1/8″ D.
The JBL Marine A754 amplifier from ProSpec Electronics retails for $369.95; the A5055 is $549.95; and the A600, $379.95. All come with a one-year warranty.
