Springfield Armory Announces Title Sponsorship of Hillsdale College USPSA Match

Springfield Armory® is proud to announce it is the title sponsor for the inaugural Springfield Armory-Hillsdale College USPSA Collegiate Championship Match, taking place on September 28th and 29th at the John Halter Shooting Sports Education Center in Hillsdale, Michigan.

“We are proud to support this first Springfield Armory-Hillsdale College USPSA Collegiate Championship Match,” said Steve Kramer, Vice President of Marketing for Springfield Armory. “There is an incredible amount of talent on the Hillsdale Action Shooting Team, and we’ve enjoyed watching their growth over the years.”

The event accomplishes several tasks. First, it introduces 18- to 22-year-olds to the benefits of the United States Practical Shooting Association (USPSA), helping to cultivate the next generation of competitive shooters. Secondly, it helps strengthen collegiate pistol shooting programs and highlights what Hillsdale and its Halter Shooting Sports Education Center have to offer.

The 113-acre Halter Shooting Sports Education Center is home to the school’s outdoor Ailes Action Pistol and Rifle Range. This includes four 30-yard pistol bays, a 40-yard pistol bay, and a 100-yard rifle range. On the shotgun side, it has five international/Olympic bunker trap fields, a 23-station sporting clays course, and several other trap and skeet fields. The Halter Center also features four cottages with 16 private bedrooms and amenities. In July, Hillsdale College will complete the construction of its new Taylor-Carlson Range, which will include a state-of-the-art indoor-outdoor rifle, pistol, and archery range. The Halter Center is also home to the USA Shooting National Shotgun Team.

“Springfield Armory’s support has helped our team grow into one of the best in the country. By sponsoring this competition, Springfield is investing in the collegiate sport as a whole,” said Adam Burlew, head coach of the school’s action shooting team. “This match is the first of its kind and, through it, Springfield is helping to cultivate the next generation of competitive shooters.”
