Saltwater Fly Fishing School Slated for Fort Myers, Florida

Fort Myers, FL – Fly Fish Southwest Florida is set to take place on Saturday, November 16, 2024 from 9 AM to 5 PM at the Cohen Center on the campus of Florida Gulf Coast University in Fort Myers. Southwest Florida’s top fly fishing authorities and professional guides will offer their wisdom and insights during this one-of-a-kind educational fly fishing symposium. In addition, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a casting clinic immediately following the symposium on the lawn outside of the Cohen Center.

“From Charlotte County down through the Everglades, Southwest Florida offers world-class fly fishing destinations and an incredible range of species diversity,” says Joe Mahler, casting instructor and event organizer. “Our goal is to provide a forum for learning and connection among both experienced fly anglers and newcomers to the sport.”

Ticket prices are set at $165 per person and will include a keynote presentation by Captain Codty Pierce, a series of 30-minute panel discussions with esteemed fly fishing authorities, lunch, and admission to the post-event casting clinic. Secured speakers Captain Steve Huff, Captain John Hand, Captain John Stark, Captain Christina Legutki, Crazy Alberto Knie, Drei Stroman, Al Kuhre, Captain Blake Matherly, Bob Brooks, Joe Mahler, Pete Squibb, Nick Davis, Frank Catino, and Captain Debbie Hanson will cover topics such as backcountry fly fishing techniques, equipment, and species-specific strategies.
