Safari Club International, Bass Pro Shops Honor Richard Childress with Morris Family Legacy Award

Today, Safari Club International awarded the Morris Family Legacy Award to Richard Childress, the CEO of RCR Racing, for his tremendous support for our hunting heritage and his leadership role in shaping the culture of hunting and conservation by recruiting new participants.

The award is given annually to an individual who exemplifies a legacy of support of hunting, conservation, and mentorship.

Richard Childress is famous as a NASCAR Hall of Famer and philanthropist – and his commitment and passion for hunting and responsible wildlife conservation makes him the ideal recipient of the Morris Family Legacy Award.

In addition to his role as chairman and CEO of Richard Childress Racing, he serves as Vice Chair of the Board of Directors for the Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation (CSF). Childress also works with the North Carolina Wildlife Habitat Foundation, the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, and numerous other advocacy groups that seek to preserve our treasured natural resources.

“SCI is extremely proud to announce that Richard Childress is this year’s recipient of the Morris Family Legacy Award,” said SCI CEO W. Laird Hamberlin. “Richard is a lifelong outdoorsman whose dedication to protecting wildlife habitats and the freedom to hunt is exemplary. On behalf of SCI, we are thrilled to celebrate his contributions to the hunting community and dedication to the hunter’s lifestyle.”

“We are truly grateful to honor Richard Childress with this award,” said Johnny Morris, noted conservationist and Bass Pro Shops founder. “We treasure our friendship with Richard, and our shared passion for conservation and saluting our American military heroes. It’s exciting to be able to partner with SCI in celebrating Richard and everything he stands for.”
