S3DA Names New Kentucky S3DA State Conservation Coordinator

Scholastic 3-D Archery is pleased to announce Dave Frederick as the Kentucky S3DA State Conservation Coordinator. Dave will work with Patty Reel, S3DA National Conservation Coordinator, to provide S3DA teams across the state with outdoor-related activities and education that is centered around conservation. Dave has been a Public Land Wildlife Biologist with the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife (KDFWR) for twenty-five years.

Dave was born and raised in Central West Virginia, but currently resides in Lawrenceburg, KY with his wife, Melanie. They have two daughters, Michala and Beck, who grew up competing in the S3DA program. Dave has been an active hunter and fisherman for over 45 years. One of his favorite things to do is go hunting with his yellow lab, Stetson. He loves to hunt deer, turkey, ducks, and doves. Dave is well-versed in coaching, as he has been an active National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP) Coach for twelve years, active S3DA coach for roughly over ten years, and a former 4-H Shooting Sports Coach.

Dave said, “I got started in archery as a teenager hunting deer with my father and shooting archery competitively through 4-H. I have been with the S3DA program since the inception, and I know the impact this organization has on children. I felt my job with the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife has made me uniquely qualified for this position. I want to do everything I can to educate our kids about the great outdoors by offering different educational resources and outdoor activities at Kentucky S3DA events.”

Patty Reel, S3DA National Conservation Coordinator said, “We are so happy to have Dave in this position. S3DA was initially formed in Kentucky and has remained a leader in program memberships. Consequently, Kentucky S3DA should be at the forefront of conservation education for our student members. I’m confident that Dave will perform exceptionally well in this position.”
