Charleston, S.C. – Last Saturday at the Southeastern Wildlife Expo, (SEWE), Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever signed a new Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Ruffed Grouse Society (RGS) and the American Woodcock Society (AWS). The agreement brings together the nation’s premier upland bird conservation organizations and will lead to greater collaboration on habitat work across the country.
“We’ve been successfully working alongside RGS & AWS for many years. This agreement bolsters our commitment to restoring our uplands and the species that depend on them,” said Marilyn Vetter, Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever’s president and CEO. “There are immediate and meaningful opportunities to partner on woodcock and quail habitat in-particular. Their overlap in habitat across Southeastern U.S. creates an ideal situation to strengthen our partnership, and together we can ensure the uplands continue to thrive for future generations.”
Through this agreement, Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever will coordinate regularly with RGS & AWS on conservation initiatives, benefiting wildlife and people on both public and private lands. The organizations will likely work together with state, federal and non-government organizations to increase acres of habitat created. They will also work together to advocate for conservation policy and public funding tools that are consistent with the missions of both organizations.
“Whether you’re chasing woodcock, bobwhites or both, American hunters understand the importance of habitat management,” said Ben Jones, the RGS & AWS President and CEO. “RGS & AWS is proud to officially partner with Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever to improve habitat in key regions and to advance our shared organizational values.”
