With over 50 people in attendance and nearly perfect weather, it was a great day for shooting. Oklahoma State Coordinator Andrea Waldridge says, “Native Arrow Archery has a beautiful range and set up a challenging course to test the skill of our archers. The collaboration of the range owners, the kids, and their families made for a fun day on the range. We are working hard to grow membership in Oklahoma, and connecting to range owners and adults involved in archery helps get people aware of S3DA across the state.”
The scholarship opportunities really inspired some of the younger shooters and gave them an additional goal to strive for in the future. Rhielan Jackson, the Youth Pins State Champion said, “It was a fun course because of the different terrain we shot in. I enjoy shooting with my teammates, because the more experienced shooters watch you and offer helpful advice when you could maybe do something better or different.” Rhielan has plans to keep working to improve his archery, in the hopes of one day earning scholarships himself and continuing to compete in archery at the college level.
Elizabeth McGinn, one of the spectators, commented, “What an amazing group of archers and team supporters. As a group, they worked together, supported each other, and did what was needed to create a relaxed, enjoyable shoot. It’s great to watch the competition and the many friendships developing through their love of archery.”

About Scholastic 3-D Archery
Scholastic 3-D Archery (S3DA) is a unique, family-oriented youth archery program which has grown exponentially across the United States as a next-step initiative to follow introductory archery programs. The mission of the Scholastic
3-D Archery program is to foster, educate and guide youth in the areas of 3D, indoor target, and outdoor target archery as well as safe, ethical bowhunting practices. The goal of the S3DA program is to provide archery and bowhunting opportunities to youth in after-school settings, as well as with archery-affiliated clubs and businesses in the community. S3DA youth participate in 3-D and target archery using compound and traditional archery equipment. Youth members can participate at regional, state and national archery events and earn college scholarships from colleges and universities across the United States. S3DA addresses the need for a program to bridge beginning target archery experience and more advanced activities such as 3-D shooting and bowhunting. The program currently operates across the United States with hundreds of certified coaches serving thousands of youth archers.
