Michigan S3DA Hosts 3D State Championship

Michigan S3DA Hosts 3D State Championship

Williamsburg, KY – The Central Michigan Sportsman Club in Stanton, Michigan recently hosted the Michigan S3DA 3D State Championship. The weather was absolutely perfect, and the archers brought their best. Nearly one hundred archers from seven teams descended on the club setting a new record for the number of competitors in a Michigan S3DA 3D competition. Two ranges were used to accommodate the vast number of shooters. The archers had fun, laughter, and great sportsmanship all throughout the competition. Spectators, parents, and coaches all agreed that the camaraderie of youth archers is unparalleled. Young Adult podium finishers were provided archery scholarship opportunities courtesy of several collegiate archery programs.

Archers were in attendance for the tournament format but also for the experience and adventure. Some archers that were competing in their first ever state championship came off the range with the biggest smiles, saying it was a fun time and they enjoyed shooting with their new friends. Quite a few archers were returning to the state championship for another chance to spend time with their archery buddies from across the state. The Michigan archers are a true family, and that was on full display at the 3D State Championship. Whether new to the sport or a long-time competitor, whenever an archer needed help, someone would jump right in and help with whatever was needed.

Each archer received a Michigan S3DA gift bag that included stickers and various items. Some archers received items such as t-shirts, gift cards, releases, quivers, targets, etc. At the end of the day there were several big door prizes including a hunting blind, Mathews bow, Bowtech bow, Elevation gift set, Charter Fishing Trip from Silver Addiction out of Ludington, Michigan, and prizes from the Safari Club International. The Safari Club International had representatives on-site displaying several pelts among other things.

Michigan S3DA looks to strengthen over the off season and add more coaches, clubs and archers to the program.
