Matt Becker couldn’t have dreamed it up any better. The pro angler, who works with several GSM brands, completed a storybook season at the 7th and final stop of the MLF Bass Pro Tour at Saginaw Bay, earning his first BPT win, as well as the coveted BPT Angler of the Year title.
“To be honest, I had AOY on my mind heading into the tournament,” admitted Becker, who caught the majority of his fish on a 4’’ Yamamoto Shad Shape Worm. “I never even thought about winning the tournament until halfway through the final day. I went out there with an open mind and stumbled onto the winning fish.”
“We couldn’t be any prouder of Matt for his win at Saginaw Bay, and more so, his AOY title,” said GSM Fishing Senior VP Crispin Powley. “If you know him and have followed his career up to this point, you expect what we’ve seen Matt accomplish this year. He is a wonderful young man, a great member of our team, and now he’s proven how good of a fisherman he is on the world’s biggest stage. I expect much more to come from Matt in the future.”
“The support from the people at GSM has been amazing,” said Becker. “So many baits from Yamamoto and Bill Lewis played into my success this year. I have so much confidence on the water knowing the team at GSM has my back, not only with products, but with encouragement.”
