A tiger shark weighing over 1,000 pounds has been caught in south Alabama.

The 1,1019 pound shark, caught by Brett Rutledge, according to Mobile TV station WKRG, took about 45 minutes to reel in.

It was pulled in off of Dauphin Island, apart of the 90th Alabama Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo, an annual event that brings in thousands of anglers and spectators.

The rodeo was founded in 1929 and has missed only a few years.

Currently, the 13-foot tiger shark is the heaviest creature that’s been brought in so far.
